Introducing our first range of gluten free beers

February 27, 2017

Having already told you a little bit about who we are and giving you an introduction to the world of gluten-free brewing, we thought it was about time we announced the launch of ALT BREW, our first range of great tasting gluten-free beers and lagers!

Our first range of beers includes ALT BREW NO.01 Bavarian Style Pilsner and ALT BREW NO.02 English Pale Ale.

As well as being a great choice for those who suffer from Coeliac Disease, the ALT BREW range offers you an alternative to mainstream barley based beers.

After two years of research, training and many small scale trial brews using different combinations of naturally gluten-free grains, we are really proud to have created ALT BREW.

All of our beers and lagers are certified through the Coeliac UK Crossed Grain Symbol scheme, the industry recognised certification scheme for people diagnosed with Coeliac Disease or who are sensitive to gluten. To give drinkers extra piece of mind, every batch of beer brewed by the company, is tested by a United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited laboratory, to make sure it is below the recognised gluten-free standard of 20 parts per million (ppm) before being sold.

If you didn’t already know Coeliac Disease is a lifelong autoimmune disease caused by a reaction to gluten. It affects at least one in 100 people, however, according to Coeliac UK, the oldest and largest coeliac charity in the world, only 24% of sufferers have been clinically diagnosed. Sufferers of the disease are advised to avoid food and drink which contains barley, wheat or rye as an ingredient - including the majority of beers and lagers.

The ALT BREW range uses alternative brewing grains; rice, millet and quinoa in the brewing of its gluten-free beers. The range currently consists of ALT BREW NO.01 Bavarian Style Pilsner and ALT BREW NO.02 English Pale Ale - try both and let us know which you prefer. We already plan to expand the range in the coming months.

We’re excited to bring these brands to the market and are looking to grow the number of retail outlets across both the on and off trade so you can get your hands on ALT BREW from even more places.

As if launching our first range of beers wasn’t exciting enough, ALT BREW NO.01 Bavarian Style Pilsner has already been shortlisted in the FreeFrom Food Awards 2017! This is a huge compliment and we’re really looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us and our beers!

You can buy ALT BREW NO.01 Bavarian Style Pilsner and ALT BREW NO.02 English Pale Ale from Coppers At Gosforth, The Black Horse, Low Fell and online at The Gluten Free Beer Store so why not grab a couple of bottles and let us know what you think? You can get in touch with us on Facebook and Twitter and you can also rate our beers on - we welcome and appreciate all feedback.
