Ferment Magazine's special edition for Craft Beer Rising 2018 (held at the Truman Brewery, Brick Lane in February) contains a wide range of articles covering various aspects of the beer industry. However, we were particularly excited to find that Autumn Brewing Co. are featured prominently in an article written by James Beeson.
James, a respected beer writer, explores the surge in demand for 'Free-From' beers and the challenges that their production poses for brewers.
A very insightful article starts by focusing on the rise of low ABV beers and in particular Big Drop Brewing Co., the Maidenhead based business, which has won a number of awards since it's founding in August 2016. More breweries are responding to the demand for lower ABV beers and there is a gap in the market for true low ABV craft beer instead of the token offerings from the 'big beer' conglomerates.
After covering low ABV beers, the article moves onto the gluten-free beer market which raises the question of naturally gluten-free beer vs. barley based gluten-removed. The majority of breweries produce 'gluten-removed' beers as they use barley in beer, but the focus of the gluten-free section of the article is on Autumn Brewing Co. and our ALT BREW range of naturally gluten-free beers.
Despite not exhibiting at Craft Beer Rising 2018, it's fantastic to see the our beers being featured so prominently in the magazine, which can only help raise the profile of our naturally gluten-free beers.
Cheers to that!!
